Changelog
All notable changes to this workshop are written down here, so that future me can tell what past me was thinking, or at least that past me was thinking.
The format follows Keep a Changelog 1.1.0.
Instead of Semantic Versioning this project numbers by edition and printing, as
printed manuals do: a new edition (2.0) gets a new cover and a different rig on it;
a new printing (1.3) is the same cover with the text brought up to date. Issues, one
work package's booklet each, come out whenever a bin earns one and are not versioned
here, much like the weather.
Unreleased: Edition 1, in preparation
Added
- The workshop itself. Three vehicles, a pile of ambitions and a README that admits it. Vehicles get their own pages: a 4Runner with a fridge to interrogate, a 1974 F100, a 1949 Chevrolet, and a shared future of dual batteries, shore power, block heaters on a schedule and antennas pointed at foxes.
- Work packages as physical bins. Every project is cut into pieces sized an afternoon (A), a day (D) or a weekend (W), each a labelled bin on a shelf and a file that grows only as fast as interest does. The table is a menu, not a queue; nothing in it is late.
- bench.mqqn.net, built from this repo, with links that never move:
/<CODE>for a bin,/v/<rig>for a vehicle. A code once given out is never reused. Old links redirect, like a forwarding address that actually works. - The planner: answer set programming (clingo) decides what fits in which month, within budget and weekends, and when to order parts so they arrive before the enthusiasm leaves. It suggests. It does not nag. It has been told.
- SDR-1, SDR-2, PROD-1: GNU Radio, a ternary modem, and a first circuit board of our own. Ambition was not in short supply.
- The Info shape. The site is laid out as a GNU Info manual: Next, Prev and Up on
every node, menus, the keys
n p u t l, and one realbench.infoforinfo -fand Emacs. (Asked for as "infotex"; Texinfo understood.) - The shop manual (
/manual): issues, editions and printings, an A5 cover laid out bymanual/cover.pyin the spirit of the aftermarket repair manuals, a line drawing of the F100 for the painting, and a prompt that puts it at a fire lookout at dawn. - A colophon with a 無 in it, on the question of who wrote all this.
- This changelog, in which the changelog notes its own arrival.
Changed
- The site went from a serif reading column to monospace with makeinfo underlines. The asterisks are load-bearing.
Deprecated
- Free weekends. Scheduled for removal in a future edition; see the planner.
Fixed
- Heading underlines briefly ran off the right edge of the page in pursuit of a horizon they could not reach. They now stop where the heading does.
Security
- A pre-commit guard reads every commit to this public repo for names, places and network details that belong elsewhere. It has, so far, passed everything, which is either good discipline or a very patient guard.
